On September 12, 2007, 250 attendees gathered at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. for the 2nd Annual Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting. The event focused on enabling telework and how it supports the next generation of government operations and brought together a diverse set of stakeholders, including agency telework proponents, government telework managers, government teleworkers, industry supporters, and affiliated organizations.
The meeting featured educational panel discussions comprised of influential telework leaders who provided attendees with the know-how required to adopt and expand telework programs. Interactive sessions focused on the current telework landscape and ways to establish telework a mainstream standard operating procedure across government.
The event included tech exhibits that demonstrated proven methodology used to support and further expand telework. At the conclusion of the 2007 meeting, Telework Exchange once again "planted" a money tree in support of its campaign "Time is Money, and Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees...Telework." Attendees lined up to pick $2 bills off the tree and continue discussions on the benefits of telework.

During her morning keynote, Lurita Doan, Administrator for the General Services Administration (GSA), announced an aggressive telework commitment goal to increase agency telework participation. Her challenge will enable 50 percent of eligible agency employees to telework one or more days per week by 2010. Currently 10 percent of eligible GSA employees telework, compared to 4.2 percent for the overall Federal workforce. Her goal is to increase participation to 20 percent by the end of 2008, 40 percent by the end of 2009, and finally 50 percent by 2010.
